Wedding Planning Checklist

You can use this Wedding Planning Checklist as a guide in preparing for your wedding. You do not need to use all of the bullet points listed, and you can add to the list to personalize it for your wedding.

Note: The time frames listed are only suggestions

Right now:

• You are engaged. Congratulations!

• Create a wedding-specific email address to keep everything organized

• Look into ring insurance

• Start building your guest list

• Research wedding planners/coordinators

• Start a budget document to update and refer to, throughout the process

• Plan your engagement party

• Book your engagement photoshoot & wedding with Hocking Photo

10-12+ months out:

• Choose your wedding party

• Research and meet with bands/Djs

• Take your engagement photos with Hocking Photo

• Book your wedding coordinator

• Book your ceremony and reception venue

• Book your caterer

• Try on wedding gowns/dresses, or suits

• Think about who you want to officiate your wedding

8-10 months out:

• Book your band and/or Dj

• Book your florist

• Start your gift registry

• Book hotel blocks for your guests

• Book your hotel room for the wedding night

• Plan decorations for your ceremony & reception

• Create & send out “Save the Dates,” (use engagement photos from Hocking Photo)

• Try on wedding gowns/dresses, or suits

6-8 months out:

• Say yes to the wedding gown/dress, or suit

• Think about starting a honeymoon or cash fund

• Pick out bridal party dresses/suits

• Create & send out wedding invitations

• Finalize your florist and flowers

• Start thinking about where you would like to honeymoon

• Book your wedding hair stylist

• Book your wedding day makeup artist

4-6+ months out:

• Look into venues for your rehearsal dinner

• Book your honeymoon

• Book your rehearsal dinner venue

• Book hair, makeup, and nail appointments for the wedding party

• Renew your passport if traveling out of the country

• Set a transportation plan to and from the weekend’s events

• Pick out wedding bands

1-4 months out:

• Buy bridal accessories

• Make sure you are keeping track of RSVPs

• Think about gifts for your wedding party

• Meet with your officiant and choose/write your vows

• Create guest seating chart

• Attend dress/suit fittings

• Develop a wedding day timeline

• Order wedding favors for guests

1 month out:

• Confirm date, time, and locations with all vendors

• Confirm guest count with catering/venue/bar vendors

• Take a dance lesson (if you need to Ha Ha)

• Order thank you cards

• Pick out outfits for all wedding weekend events

• Send invitation to your rehearsal dinner and any other pre-wedding events

• Write a honeymoon packing list

• Apply for and get your marriage license

Month of:

• Confirm details of any pre-wedding events

• Finalize outfits for all events

• Finalize wedding payment for all vendors

• Finalize the wedding day timeline

1-2 weeks out:

• Pack for your honeymoon & wedding night

• Get a manicure and pedicure

• Treat yourself to a massage

• YOU DID IT! Get married & go on your honeymoon!
